I am opposed to illegal immigration 100% of the time. Federal laws exist to punish those who break the law, but those laws are not doing enough to stop the problem.  I support states' rights to implement and enforce their own laws to specifically address the individual problems they face.  I voted against giving special consideration to illegal immigrants applying to our colleges, and against spending my constituents' tax dollars on funding organizations who aid and abet these criminal.

My good friend, Ed K., brought it to my attention that I have said nothing on here about my veteran constituents.  And he's right!  I apologize to all of you for that.  I will continue to sponsor legislation to increase the amount of your income that is tax exempt in Maryland.  Right now, it is a paltry $5,000 and this is just sad.  At the very least, it should be increased to $10,000 and I will again try to get that done for you.  Thank you, Ed, for your continued diligence and hard work on behalf of your fellow veterans.

I believe Small Businesses are the engine that runs our economy. Not only should they be protected, but they should be less regulated, less taxed, and not burdened by government intrusion. I have been endorsed by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Maryland Businesses for Responsive Government.

I am for the protection of your second amendment rights. Your right to bear arms is clearly established in the Bill Of Rights and by no means should anyone try to discredit the wisdom of our founding fathers who set forth that right.  I am a member of the NRA.

I am fiscally conservative and do not support increasing any of your taxes.

We owe our veterans our support, both as a community and as a government. Those who took care of us in our darkest times of need should be taken care of in theirs.

I believe the sanctity of marriage is reserved for the union of men and women. 

As a legislator and as a human being, I am opposed to abortion. Period.

I do not support spending state tax dollars on embryonic stem cell research. I would, however, support research on adult and umbilical cord stem cells after weighing the ethical arguments of some with the scientific ones of others.

Sex Offender Laws Are "Not Good Enough!" I will continue to sponsor and support legislation making Maryland safer for our kids.  My vision is to make Maryland laws against sex offenders so strong that perpetrators who live here will be caught and sentenced for a long time!  I have been successful thus far in my bills becoming law and I hope to continue that success in the next four years.
