When people ask me why I want to be your delegate to the Maryland General Assembly, my answer is quite simple: I expect more and so should you.
We elect our officials with the hopes that our needs will be not only addressed in Annapolis, but will be satisfied as well. With each vote we cast in their favor, we put our faith and trust in them to do what’s best for us. We tell them that we expect hard work on their part on OUR behalf. Finally, each vote they receive carries with it the conditions that it only counts for the next four years, that we don’t give it freely, and that we will surely repeal it if we don’t see results.
Let us not forget that our vote associates us with those whom we elect. Those who are fortunate enough to get our vote should show the humility, character, and integrity of the very people who fought to give us our right to vote. Nothing less is acceptable, nor should it be.
Never should our vote be taken for granted simply because it has been given before. No matter how long someone’s been in a job, if the job’s not getting done the worker must be let go. We, the voters of Harford County, are very capable of finding and electing our next “employee”. And I want to be first to apply! My passions and convictions as a mother, teacher, and business owner will guide me in Annapolis. My faith in God will continue to strengthen me as I strive to do what’s right.
Next month, you’ll be asked to decide whom you will elect to work for you. I’ll be making the same decision. I will not continue to vote for mediocrity. I will not put my faith in someone who hasn’t earned it. I will not give any one a second, or even a third, chance with my vote and my trust. I will vote for a change in the Maryland House of Delegates. I expect more and so should you.
